Being prepared for your dental implants in Northern Ireland

If you have been discussing whether to have dental implants fitted or are looking into restoring lost teeth, understanding the process and being prepared can pave the way for a stress-free, successful restoration. At Blue Sky Dental & Implant Clinic we like to offer all of our patients support from start to finish. Although one short article can’t cover every aspect of tooth loss and restoration, we’d like to give you a short overview to prepare you and inform you.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are titanium prosthetics which replace your tooth root. Once in place, crowns, bridges or dentures can be attached, securely anchoring them in place. The combination of tooth and root dental prosthetics provides many advantages over tooth replacements alone.

Since the dental implant fully integrates into your jawbone, when the tooth replacement is attached, it is then permanently fixed in place. Cleaning can be conducted as normal with brushing and flossing, while the stability provided restores full bite force, thanks to the secure anchoring of the dental implants. In Northern Ireland, perhaps the best advantage is how implants secure your entire dental chain, jawbone and gums. Implants encourages natural jawbone and soft tissue growth so your jawbone remains strong, gums are kept healthy and remaining teeth are supported and stabilised.

The dental implant procedure

Implant treatment consists of a small hole being made in the jawbone, avoiding any nerves, into which the dental implant is then placed. A temporary crown or bridge will be attached and after a few months you’ll return and your permanent tooth replacement will be attached.

You can replace one, multiple or all of your teeth with dental implants in Northern Ireland.

Aftercare

We will be on hand throughout your recovery, advising and encouraging any lifestyle or dental hygiene changes needed to ensure the ongoing health of your implants. Dental implants can’t get cavities but gum disease can cause them to fail, which is why regular dental check-ups, hygienist cleanings and a good oral hygiene routine are important. Dental implants can provide you with a permanent, long-lasting solution to tooth loss with our care and support.
