Have you lost a lot of teeth but are still hanging on to the last few? You may well be holding on in vain as it’s likely the others will become loose and will be lost in the future. You may be wearing dentures, anchored to these remaining teeth, however, this is not a long-term solution due to eventual loss of teeth.
In Northern Ireland, dental implants could provide you with a long-term solution that not only gives you a full set of teeth again, but will also protect your jawbone from shrinkage. Jaw shrinkage occurs once the tooth roots are no longer present. When all the teeth have gone, the shrinking jaw makes your cheeks cave in, prematurely ageing you. Dental implants act like the roots of your teeth, securing the bone and keeping your jawbone healthy.
In Northern Ireland, dental implants can give you teeth in a day
You could have a new set of teeth in one day. Although you will no doubt need some preparatory work, the actual process of receiving dental implants is straightforward. During a simple surgery, the implants are placed into your jawbone and a provisional bridge or denture will then be placed onto the implants. This means that, within a day, you could be sporting a whole new set of teeth.
Initially you’ll need to visit us at Blue Sky Dentistry for a thorough assessment. To ensure successful dental implants in Northern Ireland, your jawbone should be healthy and have good density, which we’ll check with x-rays. We’ll also assess your oral and general health, carrying out any preparatory work needed.
For the dental implant procedure itself, you will only need a local anaesthetic; however if you are at all nervous we can provide you with sedation as well. We will then place the implants and then attach the provisional bridge or denture.
At home, you will initially need to only have soft and liquid foods. However after 10 days you’ll have a fuller function back. Most patients experience some discomfort during the healing process, however with good care and regular check-ups, you should be healed within 3-6 months and permanent bridge or denture will be fitted.
